2. Medical Certification (The "Self-Cert")
In Florida, your CDL is tied directly to your medical status. You must present your valid DOT Medical Card to the tax collector's office or DHSMV.
The "Self-Certification" Rule: You must declare one of four categories. Most commercial drivers will choose "Non-Excepted Interstate" (Category A). This means you drive across state lines and meet federal medical standards.
